Why we started
We started Blue Spirit in 2015 after years of running email infrastructure for clients whose patience with the mainstream options had run out. Good operators were burning hours per week configuring and re-configuring around SendGrid suspensions, Contabo's cryptic abuse department, Amazon SES's volume-gating and Mailchimp's algorithmic "we determined your list quality is suboptimal" emails. The technical problems were solvable; the business problem was that nobody was selling a solution at a price that made sense for mid-volume senders.
So we built one. Managed PowerMTA with real engineering support. Offshore VPS with policy that prefers due process over reflex. Adult hosting that actually understands what tube sites need. Installation services for operators who want the stack on their own hardware but do not want to spend three weeks figuring it out. Over the years we added IP warmup, cold email infrastructure, DMCA-ignored policy, dedicated IPs — each one because our existing clients kept asking.
What we believe
Infrastructure should be boring. The best email infrastructure is the one you stop noticing because it works. We optimise for uptime, deliverability and calm support tickets. We are not trying to build a "platform". We are trying to build a utility.
Support is a core product. When a ticket comes in, it is read by someone who has actually operated PowerMTA, understands DNS, and can tell the difference between a greylisting issue and a blacklisting issue. We do not outsource support. We do not run chatbots. We pay competent engineers to answer your questions, because that is the job.
Due process, not reflex. Complaints, takedowns, suspicious traffic — all handled by humans reviewing merits, not by algorithms reacting to thresholds. We refuse accounts that would abuse this posture (spammers, phishers, CSAM hosts) and we defend accounts that deserve defence.
Honest pricing. We publish prices. We explain what we include and what we do not. We do not require "contact sales" for products that should have a number on them. Enterprise engagements are custom because they genuinely are; mid-tier is on the website.
Operator-led, not VC-led. Blue Spirit is independently owned. We take no outside investment, we are not preparing for an exit, and our priorities are set by client reality rather than quarterly growth targets. This means slower growth. It also means we are still here answering tickets in 2030.
The team
A small, distributed team across Europe and Latin America. Infrastructure engineers who have run PowerMTA clusters at scale, network engineers who speak BGP natively, abuse analysts trained in both the technology and the law, and a support layer fluent in four languages. We hire for judgment, because the cost of a bad support answer is larger than the cost of hiring someone who will not give one.
Where we are
Operational headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark. Primary server footprint in the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Luxembourg, with selective presence in Moldova, Romania and the US for workloads that need it. Support is distributed: at any given moment during the CET-UTC-CST business band someone is online and reading. Overnight and weekend support for managed plans is on-call through a documented rotation.
What we will not become
We will not pivot to generic shared hosting with auto-installers and 99-cent promotional first months. We will not become a marketing-led brand that outsources the technical work. We will not start a cryptocurrency. We will not be acquired by a private equity firm interested in squeezing margin out of a client base we spent years earning. What you buy today is, in all relevant respects, what you can buy from us ten years from now — done better, not differently.
